Beginning July 3, 2022, CERN will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the discovery of the Higgs boson, with collisions planned for the 5th at “unprecedented energy levels” – note: the good scientists at CERN do not expect to “open a portal”. , as some have suggested.
TikTokers of a certain persuasion have taken the opportunity to warn their listeners about “timeline shifts,” “Mandela effects,” “vortices in the sky,” and “things of that nature.”
It is true that on July 5th, CERN’s flagship accelerator will be home to a major particle smash. However, talk of “spiritual entities” passing through “portals” may be less helpful than the explanation of science.
So what is CERN planning for July 5th and why are people obsessed with the idea that the nuclear research organization is planning to open a portal to another dimension?
What is CERN celebrating on July 3-5?
CERN’s Large Hadron Collider has been home to numerous experiments since its construction in 2008.
The Higgs boson, sometimes also called the Higgs particle, is an elementary particle. Peter Higgs was the first to suggest it might exist, hence its name.
Physicist Leon Lederman called it the “God Particle” in 1993, which gives you an idea of its importance to those working in the field.
Higgs bosons are hard to find. It takes a lot of energy to make them and they don’t last very long. On July 4, 2012, scientists working at the Large Hadron Collider announced that they had discovered what they believed to be a Higgs boson. They confirmed the discovery the following year after further testing.
Therefore, the events CERN has scheduled for three days in July celebrate the tenth anniversary of this discovery.
What is CERN planning for the tenth anniversary of the discovery of the Higgs boson?
CERN invites people from all over the world to participate in a “historic week” for particle physics.
On July 3, 2022, the Globe of Science and Innovation is hosting a special evening with filmmakers Mark Levinson and Walter Murch, who made the documentary Particle Fever. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion; a live webcast will be available online. More information can be found here.
Then, on July 4th, there will be a full-day scientific symposium in CERN’s main auditorium. Speakers include the Director General of CERN. Information on the event and the webcast can be found here.
And finally, on July 5th, CERN starts “Run 3”. This is a new phase of data collection at the Large Hadron Collider after three years of upgrade and maintenance work. You can also tune in to it through CERN’s social media channels or via satellite connection. You can find relevant links here: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn.
What is the CERN July 5, 2022 Portal Theory About?
Social media users on TikTok and YouTube have seized the opportunity offered by CERN’s July 5, 2022 initiation of Run 3 to spread unsubstantiated theories about a “portal” opening to “other dimensions.”
TikTok and YouTube video maker Spiritual Battle has compiled a series of videos, including those from other users, making various claims about what CERN aims to achieve on July 5th.
“Brace yourself for timeline shifts, Mandela effects,” says one. “You will see much more than you have ever seen.”
“Look for many different types of Mandela effects,” warns another, “swirls in the sky, things like that. You’ll restart CERN with the highest energy levels ever in that reactor.”
Are any claims true that CERN opened a portal or built Jacob’s Ladder on July 5, 2022?
Parts of what some conspiracy theorists say about CERN are true. For example, it is true that the ATLAS and CMS detectors at CERN expect to record “more collisions” during Run 3 “than the previous two LHC physics runs combined.”
The collider will hit a new world energy record of 13.6 trillion electron volts (13.6 TeV) in some of its collisions. An electron volt is the measure of an amount of kinetic energy. According to CERN’s own glossary, a flying mosquito has about a trillion electron volts of energy.

But claims regarding an alleged “plan” to “open portals” through which “spiritual beings” could pass on July 5, 2022 – and which tie CERN’s activities to Bible prophecy – do little to help us understand what is actually going on in the Large Hadron Collider.
Reddit users have been discussing this on a forum dedicated to the topic. And as several note, huge amounts of high-energy cosmic rays have been hitting Earth for as long as it has existed. Generating a few more in an underground tunnel is unlikely to affect us en masse.
Another joker notes, “I’ve never heard anyone explain why this is happening other than ‘because CERN’.”
