The United Arab Emirates is seeing an influx of arrivals, the country’s leading travel agencies have said. Scores of tourists from Central Asian and East African countries flock to the UAE to experience sunny weather conditions, pristine beaches, world-class architecture, and shopping and dining experiences in the Emirates.

According to an April 2022 survey by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the emirate welcomed nearly four million international overnight guests between January and March 2022, compared to 1.27 million visitors in the same period last year, representing a whopping 214 percent year-on-year visitor growth .

Libin Varghese, Sales and Marketing Director of ROOH Tourism LLC, said that due to the easy access and climatic conditions, they received a large number of guests from European and African countries. “One of the main reasons tourists flock to Dubai is the weather, which Europeans love. With hundreds of activities to do, Dubai is the best option for tourists to travel during the summer holidays,” Varghese said.

He further explained that as travel to China is restricted, the country’s airlines are deploying planes for different sectors to handle the rush. This has also affected ticket prices to Dubai, which is comparatively cheaper from some African and European countries.

This is the first summer where travel is relatively hassle-free as many of the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, such as B. Tests before departure have been relaxed. The phasing out of Rapid PCR/PCR tests brought travelers to the UAE a sigh of relief.

Travel agents emphasize the ease of travel, eased Covid restrictions and pristine beaches are other reasons why tourists choose the UAE for their summer holidays.

“Thanks to the UAE government’s immediate measures to combat the virus and the gradual resumption of commercial and tourist activities, travelers are attracted to spend an unforgettable time here,” says Thomas Liju, Sales Manager of Tours On Board Pvt LTD.

He added that they have received several requests for incoming tourists. “We have hosted many guests and receive hundreds of inquiries every day as Dubai is the preferred destination for summer travel to Central Asian, African and European countries.

“People from Georgia are keen to visit the country and we have a special package for them. We plan a Musandam tour for them and add Jumeirah to the itinerary to enjoy the beaches,” Liju said.

“Airline tickets from African countries start from Dh900 to Dh1100 and from European countries the ticket costs Dh2,200 depending on the departure airport, which compares favorably to other destinations,” Liju added.

Travel agencies have also welcomed many Israeli tourists to the UAE after the borders opened.
