The Prime Day deals for PC gaming are possibly some of the best we’ve seen at a sales event in the last two years. It’s not just about a few facets of the hobby, you’ll find deals on everything that belongs in a gaming PC or laptop. Not because Jeff Bezos has suddenly turned sympathetic to us PC folks, but because we’re nearing the end of this current generation of hardware and Prime Day is just around the corner before the new one starts.
This is the last sales event before the new Intel and AMD processor lines come out and before AMD and Nvidia launch their new graphics cards. That means you can be pretty sure there will be PC gaming deals on Prime Day for full gaming rigs, gaming laptops, CPUs and yes, even graphics card deals.
What a world, isn’t it? Wait two years for GPUs to actually be available and suddenly there are so many that people actually start discounting them. That’s partly because this generation is coming to an end, but also because the cryptocurrency mining boom has gone bust and used graphics cards will likely ease the demand for brand new ones from this current generation.
And when there are more GPUs on the shelves, we’re more likely to actually see them on sale. The high-end cards are the most likely, so you’ll see serious discounts – in fact, RTX 3090 Ti and RX 6950 XT GPUs are already being offered below MSRP today – but what you really want to look out for are the mid-range cards, such as like the RTX 3060 Ti. These are probably the furthest away from being replaced by next-gen versions.
But alongside other PC components, peripherals, gaming monitors, and even gaming chairs, there’s also a variety of Amazon-owned tech on offer. And I’d almost guarantee that you’ll see some excellent discounts on SSDs as the new PCIe 5.0 generation approaches.
But it’s not just Amazon with discounts on PC gaming hardware; Every retailer under the sun is harnessed to Jeff’s vending cart. That means companies like Dell/Alienware are shipping discounted laptops and full PCs, and Newegg and Best Buy are hoping to outperform Amazon and each other with tech offerings.

This year, Amazon Prime Day is Tuesday 12th July and Wednesday 13th July 2022. Yes, I’m aware it’s two days, not just one, but Amazon still can’t decide which really is primary so gives us another two days full of discount goodies.
