Police were investigating after shots were allegedly fired along a busy street near a Massachusetts McDonald’s. One of the bullets went into a nearby dunkin’. The incident occurred in the Washington Avenue and Sagamore Avenue area of Chelsea, Massachusetts. Chelsea Police said multiple shots were fired in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant at 178 Revere Beach Parkway in Chelsea. At least 15 rounds were recovered at the scene. Police said one of the vehicles involved, a black Volkswagen SUV, was driving in the McDonald’s parking lot with no one inside. Video evidence and witness statements indicate that a second vehicle, possibly a white Zipcar, drove toward the Volkswagen and those in both vehicles exchanged gunfire. Two men who were in the Volkswagen fled the area on foot and onto Cheever Street. The white vehicle exited the area via Sagamore Avenue, according to police. The Volkswagen has been taken into Chelsea Police custody and a search warrant is currently being enforced. According to police, one of the bullets went into the Dunkin’ across the street, narrowly missing a customer. Photos and video from the scene showed a bullet going right through the glass and hitting the wall. A customer who was sitting and working in the area with his laptop and a cup of coffee was struck by glass but was not hit by the bullet, according to Dunkin employees. Well, one of the workers just gave us a photo of this man. He was sitting right here as you can see in the picture, working on his laptop and drinking a cup of coffee when the window behind him shattered as the bullet went through. The guest was not seriously injured, the restaurant said. No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting. Chelsea Police released a photo of what they said was a person of interest linked to Tuesday’s car park shooting. Investigators believe the two groups involved in the shooting knew each other. State Police said they have patrols and K9 teams assisting Chelsea Police officers investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact Chelsea Police.
