Damn, is it July already? June flew by, but as we look back at the month and all of these Switch games, we think we have an answer as to why things flew by so quickly – it was a darn good month for video games, isn’t it? How are we ever going to pick the best of the best? Well we tried!
As always, we’re focusing on download-only games that we’ve reviewed and that DLC and expansions – like Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course – aren’t included. But even with those ground rules laid down, it was still a blast from a month on the eShop.
First, let’s get the June 2022 Honorable Mentions out of the way, then check out the best (and our favorite) Switch eShop games of the last month!
Honorable Mentions:
This month was so good that we only included games with a score of 8/10 or higher. While they didn’t quite make the top three, they definitely deserve a shout out here:

Publisher: Devolver Digital / Developer: Nerial
There are tons of card games out there on the Switch (and elsewhere) right now, but what sets Card Shark apart from the rest is that it’s not Yes, really about the deck, and it’s that twist that it meant hardly squeaked into our number three.
It’s a deliciously devious puzzler where you shuffle decks of cards, pour drinks, and try to keep your players happy while trying to help a noble cheat your way through the game. It’s a volatile deck to play with since you’re always under pressure. But it’s also totally hilarious and always keeps you on your toes.

Publisher: Valve Corporation / Developer: Valve
This iconic duo has been waiting for the switch port treatment for a long time. Announced in February and dropping shadows during June’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Valve’s incredible puzzle games have proven right at home on Nintendo’s small console.
Is it any wonder that this is ranked so highly? Not us. portal and portal 2 have some of the best puzzles and funniest writing in gaming today and both games quiet feel unique years later. And the Switch port has hardly any graphical hiccups, running at a smooth 60 fps in both handheld and docked modes. That is the way to play both games we think.
Need more persuasion? Our 9/10 review should suffice.

Publisher: dotemu / Developer: tribute games
First up in a stacked month for new releases is the loving celebration of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games from Dotemu and Tribute Games. It’s hard to deny it the top spot, and it’s absolutely throttled the competition within the Nintendo Life Towers.
Shredder’s Revenge is more than just a pizza slice with 80’s and 90’s beat ’em up nostalgia – it’s worth a whole pizza. Block a block with references to the show, the comics, and the games. The game’s 16 stages are filled with enemies, hum with the awesome music of Tee Lopes, and are filled with homages to other classic fighting games. And with six-player co-op and Whether it’s online or local, you’ll waste hours perfecting combos and getting into chaotic brawls. It’s the tastiest pizza we could ask for.

< Nintendo Life eShop Selection – May 2022
This is how we decide our eShop Selects Top 3: At the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff vote on their favorite titles from a list of games handpicked by the editors. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a digital-only Nintendo Switch eShop title and reviewed on Nintendo Life in that specific month; We select the qualifying games based on their rating results.
Staff are then asked to vote for three games that they believe deserve to be at the top of this list. The first choice gets 3 points, the second choice 2 points and the third choice 1 point. These votes are then tallied to create a top 3 list, with the overall winner receiving the top prize of the month.
