Elon Musk rips Donald Trump apart and urges him to ‘hang up his hat’

Elon Musk blasted back at Donald Trump in a series of scathing tweets Monday night, urging the former president to abandon his ambitions for a political comeback.

Musk’s comments came after Trump attacked Tesla’s CEO at his rally in Anchorage, Alaska on Saturday.

“I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail into the sunset,” Musk said wrote on Twitter late Monday night. “Dems should call off the attack too — don’t make it seem like Trump’s only way of surviving is to win back the presidency.”

But that’s not all. Musk tried again – at Trump’s age.

“Trump would be 82 years old by the end of the term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States,” Musk said continued. “If [Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis is going up against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will win easily – he doesn’t even have to run.”

The SpaceX founder also responded to Trump’s claim at his rally that Musk told Trump he voted for him.

“Not true,” Musk explained.

A Trump spokesman did not respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment Monday night.

While Trump has long publicly touted a 2024 White House run, a source close to the ex-president recently told The Daily Beast that no official decision has been made, adding, “It’s a personal decision in between [Trump] and his family.”

Still, the 45th President has continued to hold major rallies, railing against all sorts of opponents — including the Tesla CEO.

“Elon. Elon will not buy Twitter. Where have you heard that before? By me,” Trump said at his Saturday night rally, targeting Musk for resisting his purchase of the social media platform.

“You know, the other day he said, ‘Oh, I’ve never voted for a Republican.’ I said, ‘I didn’t know that.’ He told me he voted for me. So he’s another bullshit artist,” Trump added at the rally, before snapping at Musk about his “rotten” deal with Twitter.

The barbs marked a turnaround in the pair’s momentum just a few months ago. In May, Musk said at a conference hosted by the financial times that he would restore the former president’s Twitter account if his takeover went through.

“I don’t think it was right to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country and ultimately didn’t result in Donald Trump having no voice,” Musk said.

The Tesla CEO previously served on two of Trump’s presidential advisory boards. However, he resigned when the then-president pulled out of the Paris Agreement, an international commitment to reduce the impact of climate change.

More recently, the billionaire tangled with the Biden administration claiming it conspicuously overlooked Tesla when it highlighted American automakers’ efforts to make greener vehicles.

Apparently, Musk has had enough of both leaders and has switched to DeSantis. It remains to be seen how long this alliance lasts.
