It’s a bit early, but this Amazon Prime Day deal deserves a mention; the Apple TV 4K just hit its lowest price ever. There’s certainly no shortage of 4K media streaming devices to choose from and it might be confusing for someone to work out which is the best. Let’s be clear right away that Apple TV tops the list as one of the best, if not the best, media streamer available, doubly so if you already own an iPhone or iPad.
$70 off the latest Apple TV 4K

There’s only one downside to the Apple TV compared to its rivals, and that’s the price. The current Apple TV 4K normally costs $179.99 for the 32GB model and $199.99 for the 64GB model. I’m not saying the price isn’t justified, but that’s a premium price tag when other streaming devices can go under $50. Thankfully, today’s deal makes that less of an issue. Amazon is offering a flat $70 discount on 32GB and 64GB models. That’s a whopping 39% off the 32GB model, but better yet, this is the lowest price we’ve seen for the new Apple TV. It’s significantly cheaper than what we saw on Black Friday and will likely be the lowest priced until the next Black Friday comes along.
Why is the Apple TV such a great media streaming device? For starters, it supports a wide range of apps. This includes video apps like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Paramount+ and of course original Apple TV movies and TV shows, as well as music apps like Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music and TIDAL. Apple TV also gives you access to Apple Arcade games that you wouldn’t normally be able to play on a non-Apple device.
The Apple TV hardware is also top-notch. It’s powered by an Apple A12 Bionic CPU that can easily handle 4K HDR video paired with Dolby Atmos audio. They’re also not used to storage space; Even the smaller 32GB model puts other media streamers to shame. For example, the Amazon Fire TV (any model) only comes with 8GB of storage, Roku comes with no internal storage, and the NVIDIA Shield Pro comes the closest at 16GB.
The current-gen model also features a new and improved Siri remote that’s a head and shoulders above the previous-gen black remote. Not only is the build quality better, but there are some quality of life improvements, like a 5-way clickpad, a mute button, and a dedicated power button that works for your television, receiver, and Apple TV. They might sound like small upgrades, but they make a big difference in terms of convenience and usability.
Finally, installing Apple TV is a breeze, especially if you already own an Apple device like an iPhone or iPad. Even better, you don’t need any additional setup to mirror your Apple TV content to your iPhone or iPad, or vice versa. You can share videos, movies, music, pictures and browser content over Apple’s proprietary AirPlay wireless connection. And since the iPhone is the most popular phone out there right now, it’s safe to say that some people will find this functionality extremely handy.
