WayForward is bringing RWBY: Arrowfell to Switch in Fall 2022

At this week’s RTX Austin, Rooster Teeth and WayForward shared an update on the upcoming title’s release date. RWBY: Arrow Fall. This side-scrolling 2D action-adventure is coming to multiple platforms including Switch this fall.

A new trailer has also been released showing some work-in-progress footage. This includes an “updated look” at the game’s combat, graphics, and game mechanics. WayForward also shared some additional information about this upcoming release on their website:

Featuring an ongoing story by RWBY writers Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna and Eddy Rivas, RWBY: Arrowfell puts players in control of Team RWBY – Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long – shortly after they become full licensed Huntresses in RWBY Volume 7. You can instantly switch between characters as you battle Creatures of the Grimm and other enemies using the heroes’ signature weapons – Ruby’s Crescent Rose, Weiss’s Myrtenaster, Blakes’ Gambol Shroud, and Yang’s Ember Celica – in melee and ranged combat and as you explore locations in Atlas, Mantle and the surrounding wilderness, Team RWBY will complete missions for familiar characters such as General Ironwood and the Ace Operatives (as well as ordinary citizens) while uncovering clues to a mysterious new threat, lurking in the shadows.

Players will also use Team RWBY’s ghosts both in and out of combat. Ruby’s Petal Burst makes her dodge attacks and run to distant locations; Weiss’ glyphs create viable platforms that can crumble into offensive shards; Blake’s Shadow manifests a doppelganger that can attack and activate pressure plates; and Yang’s Burn unleashes a ground slam that deals damage and destroys obstacles. By combining glows, you can solve increasingly complex environmental puzzles, and each character’s glow can be upgraded to become even more effective. In addition, by earning skill points, you can customize and improve Team RWBY’s attributes, including melee attack, ranged attack, defense, and energy regeneration.

Rounding out the action are voice-overs from the original RWBY cast (including Lindsay Jones as Ruby, Kara Eberle as Weiss, Arryn Zech as Blake and Barbara Dunkelman as Yang), all-new broadcast-quality cutscenes, an atmospheric soundtrack by composer Dale North, and an all-new Theme song with vocals by Casey Lee Williams.
