Royal-Inspired Summer Vacations: Where Will Harry & Meghan, The Queen & Co Travel This Summer?

The royal family is no stranger to luxury, from their lavish homes to their enviable wardrobes, such as Duke and Duchess of CambridgeMike and Zara Tindall, Prince Harry and more love to go on summer vacations with their royal kids.

So where will the royals head to as the academic year draws to a close? From Scotland to Spain and LA, we’ve rounded up some holiday destinations inspired by the likes Megan Markle, Prince Charles and Kate Middleton.

The Queen: Balmoral Castle, Scotland

The Queen may have spent much of the three COVID-19 lockdowns in her second home Windsor Castlebut the monarch usually heads Balmoral for her annual summer break.

your granddaughter Princess Eugenie once revealed that ‘Grandma’ is happiest in the Highlands, saying: ‘Walks, picnics, dogs – lots of dogs, there are always dogs – and people coming and going all the time. It’s a nice base for grandma and grandpa so we can come and see them up there where you only have room to breathe and walk.”

Her Majesty often enjoys horseback riding, grouse hunting and seeing her family, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall regularly visiting.

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge: Anmer Hall, Norfolk

Although the Cambridges have expressed interest in taking their children to the Caribbean after their royal tour, Kate Middleton and Prince William could also choose to vacation much closer to home this year.

The Duke and Duchess normally reside in Apartment 1A with children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis Kensington Palace, but they’ve been spending a lot of time at their Anmer Hall country estate amid the pandemic. It’s been a popular summer break for them in the past, so why not stay there all summer this year?

The three-story property is on the Sandringham Estate and has a sprawling lawn that’s said to include jungle gyms, a climbing wall and swings, so it sounds like the perfect setting for a family holiday!

Duke and Duchess of Sussex: LA, America

Prince Harry and Megan Markle currently live in Montecito, California with their two children and we suspect the couple will be staying in LA this summer to soak up the sun and enjoy all that California has to offer.

In her bomb TV interview with Oprah WinfreyPrince Harry revealed how the family enjoys biking together in the Montecito area and spending time on the beach with their dogs.

The family also have their own chicken coop and vegetable patch so we can see how these hobbies keep them busy and we bet Archie and Lilibet are happy to join in too!

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain: Mallorca, Spain

King Philip and Queen Letizia spend their annual summer break in Mallorca in their Marivent Palace residence with their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia.

The Spanish royal family can often be seen strolling happily through the streets during their break. We can think of worse places!

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall: Llandovery, Wales

Prince Charles and Camilla have a beautifully restored farmhouse, Llwynywermod Estate, where they often stay during their annual summer tour of Wales. It took Charles 40 years to find the perfect Welsh property so we can’t think of a better place to relax!

If you want a taste of a royal summer vacation, you can rent the two converted barns on site when not in use by the royals.

Zara and Mike Tindall: Sandringham House, Norfolk

zara and Mike Tindall have recently expanded their family and welcomed little boy Lucas into the world, so we suspect a stay is on the cards. After all, after their second child Lena in 2018, the couple decided to do just that.

Perhaps they’ll take a trip to Balmoral to see the Queen, or use Her Majesty’s other country estate, Sandringham House. The Norfolk estate is usually where the monarch spends her Christmas holidays, but it looks just as stunning in summer!

Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark: Grasten, Denmark

That Danish royal family have a summer residence, Grasten Palace, where they often retire with their children Prince Christian, Princess Isabella and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. We envision the family of six will be there this summer.

Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander: Greece

Queen Maxima and King Willem Alexander own a private villa in southern Greece, so we suspect the royal couple are keen to visit again. They bought the property near the Greek town of Kranidi in 2012.

The house is said to come with its own swimming pool, private beach and marina and is situated near the resort of Doroufi, west of Kranidi in the Peloponnese of southern Greece.

Willem-Alexander and Maxima reportedly fell in love with the area in August 2010 after attending the wedding of Prince Nikolaos and Tatiana Blatnik on the nearby island of Spetses.
