It’s hammer time! Today’s GameSpot news is a double dose of Mjolnir power. Also, an upcoming test flight for Halo Infinite will give players a taste of the co-op campaign.
Details on the God of War Ragnarok Collector’s Editions have reportedly been leaked. Amid a whirlwind of rumors surrounding an imminent announcement of the game’s release date, here are details on what fans can expect from the more expensive versions. According to the leaks, the tier above the standard version will be known as Jötnar Edition, referring to the giants of Jötunheim. This release will feature a 1:1 recreation of the game version of Mjolnir that was briefly teased at the very end of God of War 2018. Given that Thor will be a main character in the upcoming sequel, the powerful weapon is likely to feature prominently in the game. There will also reportedly be an even more expensive Collector’s Edition that will include a map of the game world, decals, and possibly additional items.
Of course, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is when we can get our hands on the game. For those who want to know the answer, may I remind you that the release date of God of War 2018 was only announced 3 months before, which gives the Sony Santa Monica team enough time to reveal Ragnarok, even if it is still there is coming out this holiday.
From one Mjolnir to another, Xbox is giving away another limited Series X, this time to celebrate the release of the upcoming Marvel film Thor Love and Thunder. The design is a match made in Asgard for the boxy console, encased in a skin to replicate the God of Thunder’s trusty hammer Mjolnir. Also visible in the promotional image of the Xbox with cracks along their faces commemorating the reforging in Thor Ragnarok after being destroyed at the hands of Hela, the goddess of death, is the weapon’s hilt protruding from the rear. If the handle is indeed part of the final product, hopefully the winner will be worthy of this divine gift to actually choose and mount on their TV stand.
The giveaway also includes a custom Mjolnir Xbox controller, although there are currently no images of it. To enter, Twitter users simply need to retweet the Xbox account’s post with #ThorLoveandThunderXboxSweepstakes.

Strap on that Mjolnir Spartan armor because it’s time to check out Halo Infinite’s online campaign co-op, along with mission replayability, something that was also missing from the game’s launch. Sorry, no local co-op at the moment. Players must opt-in for the test flight, which takes place in a different instance of the game than any progress you’ve made in the campaign so far, and any progress you’ve made in the test flight cannot be carried over.
According to the team, one of the main pain points in setting up and running online campaigns was that the game became unstable when players got too far apart. During the test flight, teammates are only allowed to move 250m away from the others in the group before being asked to return. At 1000ft, that player will immediately spawn again with their team. Isaac Bender, the primary software developer for 343 Industries, assures players that this distance is enough for teams to attack the campaign’s largest Covenant strongpoints from opposite sides, while still allowing for plenty of room.
That’s it for today’s GameSpot news! Thanks guys for accompanying me with videos during my first week. DeVante will be your host next week. Enjoy your long weekend and see you Tuesday right here at GameSpot.
