Genshin Impact v2.8 Summer Fantasia update will be released on July 13th

The update to version 2.8 for Genshin Impactdubbed “Summer Fantasia,” will launch on July 13, announced developer miHoYo.

Here is an overview of the update, via miHoYo:

The Golden Apple Archipelago will once again greet travelers with brand new areas, compelling stories, intriguing puzzles and treasures, and various island recreations. Meanwhile, Diluc and Fischl will look fresh in their new outfits, while Kaedahara Kazuha and a bunch of old friends will be back, along with new playable character Shikanoin Heizou.

The upcoming update will launch the Summertime Odyssey grand seasonal event, accompanied by Fischl, Xinyan, Kaedahara Kazuha, and Mona. The Golden Apple Archipelago has undergone a drastic overhaul, with new realms, deep exploration gameplay, more treasure chests, and unexpected storylines about the Traveler’s companions. Those who experience these exciting adventures may have a chance to recruit the four-star playable character Fischl for free.

The Golden Apple Archipelago also offers refreshing island recreations, whether players are traveling alone or with friends. During the Resonating Visions event, players can collect special shells with stories and messages, and redeem Fischl’s new outfit. In the latest co-op event, Reminiscent Regimen, players can set sail with friends and complete various sea challenges.

On land, Diluc, Kaedehara Kazuha, and the new four-star playable Shikanoin Heizou get their own events and stories. Diluc gets a new outfit with a distinctive look, a new idle animation, and new effects available with a limited-time discount in the store. The outfit also carries his backstory, which can be found in the Hidden Strife challenge event. Another character, Kaedehara Kazuha, is also ready to reveal more about himself as the first chapter of his story quest opens soon. Also, his friend Shikanoin Heizou, a genius young crime-solver for the Tenryou Commission, will premiere in version 2.8. And players are invited to join Heizou in his Hangout event for a day as a detective.

In combat, Shikanoin Heizou is notable for being the first melee Catalyst user in the game. He can deal Ameno damage with powerful punches and kicks, and he can even deal additional elemental damage to enemies affected by Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro. Heizou will be available in the event wishes of Kaedehara Kazuha’s and Klee’s iteration in the early stages of version 2.8. Yoimiya’s event wish will be available at a later stage of the update.

Genshin Impact is available now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Client and Epic Games Store, iOS via App Store and Android via Google Play. A switch version is also planned.
