July 6 (Reuters) – Tesla Inc. (TSLA.O) chief executive Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis, a top executive at his brain chip startup Neuralink, welcomed twins in November 2021, Business Insider reported on Wednesday .

In April, Musk and Zilis filed a petition to change the twins’ name to “their father’s last name” and include their mother’s last name as part of their middle name, the report said, citing court documents.

A month later, a Texas judge approved the petition, the report added.

A court filing summary from the Westlaw Legal Research Service showed that a judge signed an “order to change the names of several children” on May 11, after Musk and Zilis filed a name change request on April 25 of this year.

The report states, without citing a source, that Zillis was recently taken public as one of the people Musk could bring on to run Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) following his $44 billion acquisition.

Zilis, 36, is identified on her LinkedIn profile as the director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, which is co-founded and led by Musk, 51. She began working at the company in May 2017, the same month she was appointed project director of artificial intelligence at Tesla, where she worked until 2019.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she is also a board member of artificial intelligence research firm OpenAI, which Musk co-founded.

News of the twins’ arrival brings Musk’s total number of children to nine. Musk shares two children with Canadian singer Grimes and another five children with his ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson.

Musk and Grimes welcomed their second child via surrogate in December. The billionaire said he and Grimes are “semi-separated,” according to a report by Page Six last September.

Musk and Zilis did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
