How to beat the secret boss in Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course

The secret boss in Cuphead’s DLC has a unique gimmick compared to everyone else in the game. You will start a fight against an angel and a devil when going right, but You will change your appearance once you move to the left.

Thing is, the direction your character faces changes which boss is the devil – the only character to take damage. The one who is an angel will be invulnerable, but they will not harm you as long as they remain in that state.

However, you can see it continuously throwing projectiles – they look transparent. These become hostile as soon as you change direction, so make sure to do so while you are near these balls.

The enemies can throw from two to five balls in a row. You can check the movement of their heads to know when they’re going to throw you, but that’s pretty quick and hard to notice, so you’ll want to avoid predicting when the projectiles will end.

This fight would be a lot easier if that was all, but of course things get complicated pretty quickly. Both the angel and devil figures can summon you beam that goes through the arena, from side to side (depending on who summoned it).

As long as the angel is the one throwing those rays you won’t have a problem because they won’t do any harm, but the devil will throw them from time to time as well. This will force you to move in the opposite direction for at least a few seconds to avoid the enemy beam, converting it to a friendly one.

It’s important to be quick check your surroundings and spot any nearby projectile, whether it’s transparent or already hostile, before you change direction. It’s pretty easy to get hit while being deflected by the beam.

Last but not least, it will be one Cloud floats around throughout the fight. You’ll need to jump over it or run under it (with invulnerability) from time to time as there will always be lighting underneath.

You can equip the charm smoke dash with Cuphead or Mugman to dash through this and all other projectiles in this battle. The next best option is to play as Mrs. Chalice and use her invincible ground roll, but keep in mind that this doesn’t work in the air.

While the cloud may seem like an added annoyance at first, it can actually be one of the best tools you can use during combat. Standing on it will transport you from one side of the stage to the other, missing many projectiles in the way without even doing anything.

Of course there will be balls that will hit you if you don’t move and you’ll still have to deal with the beam, but the cloud will avoid most of the dangers for you and leave you in a good place to take out either one shoot numbers. Use this while watching out for the incoming projectiles and you’ll be pinning down the boss fight in no time.

Once you defeat the secret boss, your Shattered Relic will turn into a Cursed Relic. When this item is equipped, you only have a life during battles and also Change your weapon randomly every few seconds. Definitely a reward for those who want to go through all the bosses in the game and have an extra challenge.

The Cursed Relic will also be unlocked New songs while it is equipped. You will be able to hear even more scary tunes while playing.
